UN VESAK 2025-THÍCH TUỆ HẢI
(The symphony starts at 3:36') World Premiere Symphony: ESSENCE OF PRAJÑĀPĀRAMITĀ (TINH TÚY BÁT NHÃ BA LA MẬT ĐA) was performed at the United Nations VESAK 2025 Festival at Thisky Sala Hall in Vietnam on May 7, 2025. The new Vietnamese rendition of this sutra (commonly known as the Heart Sutura) was edited by Zen Master Thích Tuệ Hải, abbot of Long Hương Temple, Vietnam (www.chualonghuong.org), based on the Sanskrit palm-leaf version of the Horyu-ji Temple in Japan which dates back to the 7th-8th century. The new rendition composed into a symphony by Musician Trần Mạnh Hùng in honor of the 20th UN Vesak 2025, which includes the major compostion (as shown in this abbreviated video clip) as well as three other symphonic compositions that represent the unique and traditional musical styles of Vietnam's three regions: the North, the South and the Central, and was selected by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. The entire Musical and Cultural Exchange Program was sponsored by Zen Master Thích Tuệ Hải under the auspices of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
