Bản tin ngày 3 tháng 12/2014 trên báo Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM) của Bộ Thông Tin Myanmar loan tin rằng Trung tâm Giáo dục Phật giáo Quốc tế (IBEC: International Buddhist Education Centre) đã công bố sự tham gia của IBEC vào dự án Vườn Lumbini (Lumbini Garden) tại Tây Ban Nha, nơi sẽ trở thành Công viên Phật giáo lớn nhất châu Âu. Sáng kiến quan trọng này sẽ có sự đóng góp từ nhiều quốc gia, bao gồm Myanmar, Thái Lan, Campuchia, Lào, Sri Lanka, Trung Quốc, Hồng Kông, Nepal, Bhutan và Đài Bắc Trung Hoa (Ghi nhận của người dịch: không thấy Việt Nam). Dự án sẽ có các chương trình giáo dục Phật giáo cấp cao hỗ trợ bởi IBSC (Thái Lan), SSBU, SIBA và IBEC-Myanmar.
Bhutan, vương quốc ở vùng núi Himalaya đã mang đến cho thế giới khái niệm về hạnh phúc quốc gia, chuẩn bị xây một "thành phố chánh niệm" (mindfulness city) và đã bắt đầu gây quỹ từ hôm thứ Hai để khởi động dự án đầy tham vọng này. "Thành phố chánh niệm Gelephu" (Gelephu Mindfulness City: GMC) sẽ nằm trong một đặc khu hành chánh với các quy tắc và luật lệ riêng biệt nhằm trở thành hành lang kinh tế nối liền Nam Á với Đông Nam Á, theo lời các quan chức.
